Christopher Street Day is a festival for gays and lesbians that is celebrated in several cities in Germany. In Hamburg the festival begins with the so-called Pride Week. Within this there is a range of cultural activities to enjoy, such as gay and lesbian film festivals, theater performances and exhibitions. However, the CSD Hamburg also shows its more serious side, because topics such as equal rights for gays and lesbians are also discussed at the CSD. Pride Hamburg is also characterized by a series of parties. CSD Hamburg has various locations throughout the city where Christopher Street Day can be celebrated. However, the wide range of Gay Pride offers is not only aimed at gays and lesbians, but all people are welcome guests who should and are allowed to celebrate at the CSD. Especially in the evening, there are special discounts for all guests and you can dance to electronic sounds and beats at Pride Hamburg.

Every year there is a big street festival at Pride Hamburg, which takes place at Jungfernstieg and Ballindamm. There are also a number of delicacies to enjoy here. There are also several stages with international and national guests waiting to be admired. The LGBTI not only create a great atmosphere, but also transform the city of Hamburg into a colorful rainbow of art and culture. Particularly important about Gay Pride is the recently introduced Rainbow Day. This is where the LGBTI show their artistic and creative side. People laugh and dance in different costumes. In the evening, this smaller parade ends with some music on the beach. The absolute and eagerly awaited highlight every year is the CSD parade. Here all participants show once again how important acceptance and tolerance are in society. With lots of loud music and large trucks with various exhibitors, we head over Mönckebergstrasse to Jungfernstieg. Almost all party guests are dressed up and appear in colorful robes. Decorated with feathers and make-up, the participants dance through the streets of Hamburg and hand out various little things to the spectators. Various people and stars from the scene take part in this big event. Gay Pride is a festival that scores not only with a lot of creativity, but also with attention to detail.

Early in the morning the streets of the city center are cordoned off and the first guests wait for the big Christopher Street Day parade. The CSD always takes place in Hamburg in the summer months. The week is usually in July or August. The CSD Hamburg has been celebrated for many years and is intended to make it clear that sexual diversity is something important that should be fought for and of course celebrated vigorously.
