east Restaurant

With extraordinary rooms, which convince both in the totality and in the details and a diverse food and beverage menu, the east Restaurant grew since the opening of the east Hotel & Restaurant in 2004 to one of the hottest nightlife addresses in Hamburg and is still the destination of people from all over the world. 
 
The east Restaurant with over 200 seats, high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and a cozy vaulted ceiling is located in the time-honored building of a former iron foundry. Unplastered red brick, stained church glass and modern interior design by Chicago designer Jordan Mozer, give the large hall with its curved columns a special atmosphere.


Light installations and contemporary art of changing exhibitions give the ambience the final touch. Our guests take a seat in the great hall, in the secluded casemates or at the sushi counter, the impressive skills of the sushi masters in view.

Time for refined flavours and a special evening for two …

This Valentine’s Day, we present an exclusive menu that brings together elegant flavours, Asian accents and modern lightness.
All dishes may also be ordered individually or enjoyed as a set menu – available in a classic or vegetarian version.

 

 

  • A delicate spoon of scallop tartare with ponzu, trout caviar and shiso.
    Vegetarian: Avocado tartare with ponzu, black sesame and shiso.

 

  • Hamachi sashimi with yuzu kosho, cucumber, daikon and toasted sesame oil, accompanied by a light soy infusion.
    Vegetarian: Miso-glazed aubergine (nasu dengaku) with white miso, mirin, and a daikon & cucumber salad. Harmonious, savoury and well balanced.

 

  • A clear lemongrass and kaffir lime essence with shimeji and enoki mushrooms, finished with spring onion oil.

 

  • Robata-grilled corn-fed chicken breast, stuffed with tomato and rosemary, served with tandoori beurre blanc, pak choi and ginger oil.
    Vegetarian: Gently pan-fried king oyster mushroom “scallop style” with soy butter, ginger jus, pak choi and black sticky rice. Rich, rounded and full of flavour.

 

  • To finish, a duo of light and dark chocolate mousse with vanilla, cocoa nibs and red berries.

Meat from the Robata Grill

On the Robata grill, a traditional Japanese charcoal grill originally from Hokkaido, seafood, vegetables and meat are grilled at high temperatures to preserve their natural flavor and juices.

Please respect our dress code "casual elegant" and refrain from wearing sweatpants and jogging suits, sportswear, flipflops and overly casual clothing at breakfast and when visiting the restaurant and bar in the evening.
